Been ressurecting my brothers bike and his seatpost was royaly stuck. Tried heat and cold, vinegar soak (2 days), wd40 then after trying brute force resorted to drilling a hole in it and bolting a big nut and bolt assembly through it (clamping both inner and outter walls of seat post) and a long pry bar.
The post sheared right at the top of the seat tube. Never has such little success removing a seat post in all my years. Any ideas on how to proceed? There is a good 15cms of seatpost still in the frame.
You've tried all methods I would. Try them again or just knock the remaining post down? maybe some of the alchemist types on here have a better answer?
Yeah Caustic Soda, worked for me twice, don't recommend if you don't want to repaint the frame afterwards. Hacksaw blade down the tube apparently works too but I don't have the patience..
Can't risk the caustic soda. Frame is too good, and my bro is on a tight budget. Hacksaw blade and time seems only option I've got left, unless someone knows of other methods not yet mentioned?
