Weather's looking like this might be possible on Saturday and I've fancied riding from Moscow to California for ages, should be do-able in three hours at most.
Train from Central to Kilmarnock 0912 gets there 0949 Train back from Falkirk High or ride back along the canal if energy / weather / time allows.
I'll be fixed, and taking it relatively easy pace-wise, with a pint anytime after half way definitely on the agenda.
Subject to cancellation if forecast turns worse but II'll probably still ride if showery. PM, text (numbers thread) or reply below if you want to join.
I'd love to do it on a Sunday but I am committed this Sunday to the Aberdeen v Motherwell game. More the merrier though, love the idea of cycling from Moscow to California in a few hours and have been meaning to do this for ages.
I don't think that the weather is scheduled to be too clever this weekend, but, even if you do it this Saturday, I'd still be interested in doing it on a Sunday in a few weeks or whatever when anyone is free...
I'm tempted too but I'll have the kids in the morning, I think the best hookup point for me would be Glenmavis too. If I can get there 11:30ish I'll try.
Last comment on this before I go out to build the hangover I'll be getting rid of tomorrow. Definitely going ahead with this, I'll be at the Hope St side entrance of Central around 10 to 9, I'm doing it fixed on a dirty Bob Jackson. Rusty, I'll text you. Euan, I'd hope to be back comfortably before 4 by train from Falkirk High, maybe slightly later if we ride back along the canal, or starting from Moscow around half ten, depends how quickly I find my way out of Kilmarnock. Organisation, eh? There's nothing like it.
I've just finished putting on a big boy chainset in preparation for tomorrow. I got your text @adonymous. I was in the pub so couldn't be bothered replying. Best just to meet at Central as you say.
Cheers for that gentlemen, company made the ride so much nicer and enjoyed the pints after and journey home too.
If anybody else fancies doing this at some point, two words of advice:
1) Change the route above and avoid everything between Hamilton and Glenmavis, much nasty speedy traffic including a fair few lorries which is best avoided when you're slowly hauling yourself up a long hill.
2) Only a fool would do it fixed when you have the option of a geared bike.
sorry i didnt make it. slept in :\"> but im up for it on Sunday if the riders that werent free on Saturdays fancy re-tracing the route without the nasty bits
