Does anyone know Bill Wilson, who owns glasgowbikepolo.com? It hasn't been updated since September 2010 and doesn't really paint an accurate description of the activity of Glasgow's bike polo scene. It could do with a refresh perhaps. Was it not once a fully functioning website with a link to the polo section of this forum? Or was that another website?

He bought up the url when it expired. Gesi had it first. I actually emailed him last night off of whois data to see if he would sell it as no one else will buy it. No reply yet. It expires soon though so hopefully he wont renew and we can get it back. I guess he is a trader in that kinda thing? The blog still exists that the url pointed at. Bikepologlasgow.wordpress I think.

Well he's renewed it for another year, however the whois info is still messed up, emails bounce and phone number and address are both that of The Sandyford Hotel. Have reported the dodgey whois info, anyone know any way we can go about getting this back? It can bring the guy in much revenue, other than my frustrated clicks trying to find other contact info.

It's more that it's there and misleading people that might search for bike polo in glasgow. Also it's the first result on google. Yes we can have another url but that will still be there, it's also the most obvious url. we aint glasgowgfss.co.uk are we? .coms where it's at and if you have two the same where one is .com and one is .co.uk it's easy to see a flyer and misread or mistake it same with if you re-order the words to say bikepologlasgow.com
These are options obviously but the ideal is getting the original domain back. -
grabbed the .org , sort of , payment hasn't went through yet. And i ain't got hosting either , might soon.

Uhm, can you cancel it? Appreciate the help but .org seems a strange choice. We have the bikepologlasgow.wordpress.com blog, if you can't cancel it I'll give you the money or something? The overall plan is to have a site for glasgow, one for edinburgh and a central forum. The wordpress site isn't the final article, I think a blog portion has little use really but a site with info on where we play, general rules and whatnot would be good.

I'm afraid I can't cancel it , however I can point it to whatever domain ends up being declared _the site_. The more domains the better I say. I can also help with whatever development's required.
I appreciate the generosity as I'm sort of living on the edge of bankruptcy but I'd feel bad for taking your money cause I hastily bought a domain name. I never refuse beer or soup though or a used set of bike reflectors , if I ever get around to fixed beer.
Anyway , why I chose the .org: if this thing ever grows to commercial proportions a .org address would sound good to sponsors and advertisers. Maybe we can take bike polo to a new level. Am I right ? All we do need is a good graphics artist and this could go viral. Any winnings would go towards proper mallets , uniforms and such. I'm probably thinking this too far but hey , one can dream.

Yeah, I agree more domains pointing to the right place the better, but please when it comes up to expire let us know so we don't end up with another phantom domain! Last guy that registered moved away and didn't tell us it was going to expire or ask if we would renew it and that's how we ended up here. Just have to get the new domain as the top result on google and we are winning. Next time we play come along and I'm sure we can sort you out with some beer, soup and/or reflectors!

Any domain (regardless of the address) with good content and that is actually being used will quickly overtake a dormant .com in the search results, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Alright , I've set up a calendar event at -10 and -5 days of expiry telling me what to do :).
I should also get a 30 day reminder from the registrar , so all should be good. If i get hit by a bus till then though , just have a reminder for 2 sept 2012 'round 3pm or so to watch out for it being available.

I was under the impression that we were going to have bikepoloscotland.com and there'd be a forum there for everyone. Maybe glasgow and edinburgh sub-sections too.

Been a bit busy this weekend (well Friday and tonight) Have tidied up the site a lot and bought the .co.uk domain. I'd really appreciate some help with content if anyone's up for writing it.

At the moment it's just the same stuff that was on the old site, it still is the old site it's just got a new skin and a few different features. What I really want is stuff to go under the headings, any any other headings anyone can think of, more links, posts... anything!
Here's a list of what I'd like to improve. Help anywhere is appreciated!
Players and Bikes: I'd like to get photos of each of you who is willing and your steed and do a small bit of text, or you can write your own text for yourself. I'd like these all done in the same style so a competent photographer would be helpful!
Equipment: A run down of each basic polo specific bit of kit. Bikes, Wheel Covers, Mallets, Protection, Balls etc. Links to where to get these things, tutorials on how to make them?
Courts: This bit is pretty much fine, a nice polo ball icon to use instead of the bike icons would be cool. A good overall photo of each court would also be nice.
Rules: Needs to be much more succinct. Perhaps just the basics then a link to an external complete ruleset
Gallery: More up to date, or a good selection of categorised photos would be cool, from different periods we have been playing.
Crest: A much more composed and relevant club crest/shield would be good... -
