Fandans need not apply. This is one for the tough-guys, the macho idiots with more testosterone than sense, the masochists... oh and those looking for a cheap arse-numbing thrill.
Over in France riders will be battling it out in the 108th Paris-Roubaix race, meanwhile in Glasgow a bunch of idiots (ie you) will be taking part in the inaugural Cobblecat. Covering X sections of cobbled lanes and streets in a ABC checkpoint based alleycat before finishing at a pub where the doped up, smooth legged, lycra coated pro-peloton will be on the big screen about to hit the pavé outside Roubaix. Entry fee is £1, proceeds to the forum. Prizes tba.

As I currently have no fixed gear built up, I have a range of options that I can choose from. It'll likely involve at least one 28c tyre and probably front and rear brakes.

i have two essays due for the 11th which sucks but if i get them done before the 10th (probably not, lets face it) im in!

I'm currently bidding on Selle Italia SLRs with the hope of getting one to strip. It'd probably be best if I didn't get one before this.

I'm an auld bastard, so its if my heart holds up till then. -
anyone know the biggest tyres you can fit on a langster steel? Might try some 25c to make this a little more comfortable.

I might bring a 4" travel MTB running 2.35 tyres. Cobbles my arse. Actually I'm prob not gonna be around for this event but if I'm in Glasgow then put me down for it.

I will be riding fixed because I only have one bicycle. I have s feeling that after this it may be one bicycle in several pieces.

True, there where experiments regarding suspension for Roubaix.
But the Bianchi is interesting. Looks like a MTB build for the road. Or the other way round. -
Greg Lemond introduced front suspension to Paris Roubaix. Then the next year rumour has it lockout was invented so the riders could ride the road parts without doing the bouncy

Is it actually still common to use fork suspension today?
Believe it was all given up during the past years. -
No it was a flash in the pan thing. The only unconventional thing now are the Specialized Zertz inserts in the fork legs and seat stays.

the zertz inserts are are more about cutting out some of the vibrations. Kind of weird to look at, but apparently kill a chunk of road buzz. I can't imagine them helping on pavé
Most of the riders in the last year or two have said a properly set up set of wheels with big tubular tyres is the way forwards. The mini-series that cervelo did last year had Haussler going on about how good zipp wheels were for the cobbles. -
