  • Greetings!

The Trakke Shop opens this weekend at the Barras market, just next door to the Bike Shed. Selling bags ranging from messengers and duffels to tool rolls and pouches, we use reclaimed materials to hand make each piece in our Glasgow studio.

Using reclaimed materials means that each bag is unique and because the materials are cheaper to get hold of, our kit can be cheaper too.

Come down and have a look every weekend from Saturday 14th August at the Barras Market, 197 London Road.

  • They look good.

    Good luck with the shop!
  • Aye, they do look good. I've got some vinyl I could donate/trade if you are interested. White one side, mostly wooden floorboard print on the other with a car advert in the middle.

  • Oh wow! That vinyl looks amazing! We could pick it up from you or if you come down to the shop at the weekend we could trade it for something you like. Or you can wait, and we can make you a specific bag out of that vinyl!

Hope to see you at the weekend!
  • I almost stole a very large budvar vinyl from work, wish I had now
  • What are the prices? And are the straps reversible for those of us who have straps on our right shoulder?
  • I have a bag you may be interested in taking a pattern of, i'll come down next time in glasgow

I'll pop down tomorrow (Saturday). I'll stick the vinyl in the car.
  • Nicely done, will come down on saturday.

  • Open from 9-5 both days, see you there!
  • got and suitable for brooks saddle bags?

    that would be cool
  • image

Some more of the small messenger bags...
  • Do you mean tool-rolls that would fit onto brooks saddles? Or full on saddlebags?

We dont have either just yet, but Im sure by next weekend we could sort something out!
  • not about at the moment, but in yeah tool rolls and up to medium saddle bags and stuff would be cool. not in glasgow at the moment so i won't be coming round any time soon :(

We moved all the stock into the shop today, and painted our sign, so we are ready to open tomorrow morning!
    197 London road...
    See you down there!
  • This looks excellent! I'll drop by on Sunday for a browse.
  • Just dropped by and bought a laptop pouch for my MBP this morning.
Cheap as hell and way better made than the one I bought from Apple and less than a third of the price.
It is really well made and I will also be replacing my big Bagagoo Workhorse with a new bag aswell.
Hope your first day goes well guys.
  • interior pics? any pockets? (on the messenger bags)
  • Thanks for the good feedback!

We still have another laptop bag that has a pocket on the front for your charger, and we are making some more large messengers tonight due to their popularity! We will be open tomorrow as well, so hopefully we will see you guys down there!
  • Oh, and we are still open to suggestions on the messenger bag format - i think tonight we will makes some that have a large main pocket, a laptop sized pocket and maybe a smaller pocket on the front edge of the bag (that will be hidden when the flap is down...)

If anyone has a better idea, let us know. I cant guarantee we can do everything you suggest, but it would be nice to know what peoples preferences are. Anyone?
  • phone holder made of webbing and velro? maybe some kind of key holder on the strap?
  • Are we talking regular phone size or (dare I say it?) Iphone size? Im sure we could do that no problem!
  • A bag modelled on a finnish gasmask bag. shoulder and waist strap.
  • Man, wish I'd made it down... might try to get along today. Could do with a smaller bag than the workhorse for just bombing around.... actually I need a bag for work. Think you could cook something subtle up, not for on a bike, needs to carry a few A4 ring binders and some pockets for pens and phone etc would be handy. Ideally it would need to be black, like the average office workers bag but with a bit more capacity. I'll have a think about the specs and get back to you.
  • Would love to see an Ortlieb-style rucksack with a lock pocket/holster. The bags that have them put them at the side which imbalances the bag. Is it too impractical to put it rear-centre? Good luck with the shop!
  • Ha i wondered why you guys were bustin a move so fast!
  • What type of vinyl do you use? I have an old 10' diameter swimming pool which I am just anout to throw out, white with a blue check inside, blue outside, the type with an inflatable ring at the top. Would this be of any use? Don't have any pictures, but similar to the one in the link, if it works. I could trade too if you are up for it.

  • That sounds amazing muddyfox! If you donate the vinyl, im sure we can sort you out with some free goodies! Do you want to bring it down to the shop, or shall we collect it?
  • I'll bring it down some point on Saturday. Cheers and good luck.
  • Are these just vinyl outer? Is there a floating inner as well?
  • Hey guys.
Would you be able to make me a bag from the same material as the grey laptop bag I bought from you on saturday?
I love the woolen interior its really great and I would love a bag made from this stuff.
  • At the moment, only some of the large messengers have floating liners. Basically, a medium messenger is £30 and is unlined. Large unlined messengers are £35 and with a liner its £40.

I should think as things progress, more of the bags will be lined, but all of the materials are recycled from things that we find, and at the moment we dont have a lot of suitable lining material.

Here is a sneak preview of a few new items in the shop this weekend...

Hopefully see some of you at the weekend!
  • I'd be tempted by a massive one of these solely to use for getting shopping. Funds are low right now but next month I might want a bag off you that can hold around around 40 litres.
  • These look excellent chaps. If you ever need any sewing advice, I can lend a hand. Doesn't look like you need much advice though. Very neat. What kind of machine are you using?
  • Nice one rusty - the large messengers are probably about 35 litres, im sure we could make them a bit bigger if you need it.

IFP - we have a big singer industrial, two solid old singer straigh stitch machines, a hand cranked machine and a sort of all-round machine. Quite a selection. One of the singers caught fire the other night though. Nearly set my foot on fire. Extreme sewing over here.

  • how much are the hip belt? This stuff looks so good guys, you should be well proud, will pop along on the next day off to purchase! And i prosume there is a website on its way?
  • Yeah get a website up and maybe a Big Cartel store once you've got more stock.
  • Ah thanks for the heads up rusty. That would be amazing. Yeah the website is under construction at the moment. Probably have a basic version up and running next week if I get time.

Tp, the hip belts are £12.

Got a few great tarps today, so we might just have a couple of new colours at the weekend too!
  • should be free on sunday f anyone fancies a pootle
